Repeal The Johnson Amendment
Stop Censoring Churches

The 1954 Johnson Amendment has forced pastors into silence for too long. It has suppressed truth, hindered moral leadership, and prevented the church from fulfilling its role in guiding our nation. But we have a rare opportunity to repeal this unjust law and restore religious freedom in America.

For 71 years, the Johnson Amendment has been used to intimidate churches and nonprofit organizations into silence. Under this law, any pastor or religious leader who speaks about political candidates or policy issues risks losing their church’s tax-exempt status.

We need your help! Here’s what you can do send as many faxes as possible to Congress to repeal this unjust law and restore religious freedom in America.

Dear Legislator,

I am writing to urge you to support Free Speech Fairness Act and repeal of the Johnson Amendment. For 71 years, this unconstitutional law has placed an unjust gag order on churches, pastors, and nonprofit organizations, preventing them from freely addressing critical moral and political issues in our nation.

The Johnson Amendment directly contradicts the First Amendment and has been used as a weapon to silence faith leaders who seek to provide guidance to their congregations on matters that shape our nation. In addition, it has been selectively enforced to intimidate religious organizations, restricting their right to free speech and political participation. This law has forced pastors and faith-based organizations to live in fear that their tax-exempt status will be revoked if they dare to speak out on issues such as life, marriage, and religious liberty.

Faith leaders should not have to choose between upholding their deeply held beliefs and maintaining their church’s legal standing. The government has no place dictating what pastors can and cannot say from the pulpit.

I urge you to stand for religious liberty by supporting the Free Speech Fairness Act and ensure that the voices of faith leaders across our country are no longer silenced.

Sincerely,

(Your Name)
