Twitter has identified its “No. 1 priority” for the 2020 election.

Its CEO, Jack Dorsey, said “within elections and conversations on the elections," their priority is "identifying forms of manipulation” and suppressing “misleading information." What exactly does that mean?

This means that Twitter is going to be ramping up its censorship for the 2020 election. Right before the last big election, Twitter deployed a filter that “accidently” lumped and censored Republicans in with those inciting violence, trolls, and racists. This same filter reportedly did not block a single Democrat.

Again, after the election, Twitter was caught limiting the visibility of leading Republican Congressmembers like Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL), Rep. Devin Nunes (CA), and others who were exposing Former President Obama’s involvement in spying on Trump’s campaign.

Political donations from Twitter went 4-to-1 in favor of Democratic candidates. Twitter Chief Legal Officer Vijaya Gadde personally donated thousands of dollars to presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris’ past campaigns. In addition, its CEO admitted publicly that conservative employees of Twitter “don’t feel safe to express their opinions.”

The company is also a lobbyist on Capitol Hill and is actively fighting a number of President Trump’s policies.

With this blatantly biased track record, Twitter still enjoys zero oversight to ensure that the free speech of all Americans is protected. In fact, this company enjoys a special status that legally prevents any successful lawsuit against it!

I want to point out something that I believe is critically important. Did you notice that Twitter’s CEO didn’t say anything about stopping the flow of false information, or blocking lies, or calls to dox (put home addresses of) innocent people online, or calls for violence? Nope. Their priority is to focus on what is “misleading.” That word can easily be twisted to mean anything that leads a person to vote against the company’s favorite candidate. Twitter’s criteria can be used to censor the truth, all while continuing to spread lies.

How important is this? Well, Twitter has 1.3 billion users. Almost 40 percent of the Millennial generation is on Twitter. Control of this platform is very important to reaching that generation and beyond. Help us to send a clear message to Congress to act now on this urgent threat.
