Advancing Life and Liberty Through Action

A Victory for Our Soldiers!

Jan 17, 2020

Thanks to YOUR help, Liberty Counsel Action has been pivotal in changing a ridiculous ban for some soldiers carrying guns on military bases in America.

I’m excited that the Marine Corp has changed their policy so that law enforcement personnel with extra training can now carry concealed on base while off-duty. This reduces the completely nonsensical “gun-free-zone" policy inflicted on our soldiers on American bases.

Just last month there were two shootings on military bases within 36 hours of each other. Three people were killed at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and another three people killed at Naval Air Station Pensacola. In Florida, the military base actually had to call the local sheriff's department to come rescue them from the on-base shooter.

Liberty Counsel Action immediately took action. We sent an email giving you the opportunity to fax our leaders to demand action. Our staff worked in D.C. to bring awareness of this problem to decision makers and push for change.

Even President Trump got on board.

If you sent a fax on this issue, THANK YOU for making a difference in the lives and safety of our soldiers. Even if you didn’t send a fax, your prayers for, and your financial support of, LCA, empowered us to work behind the scenes toward creating a better solution.

Now there is still significant work to be done to expand the availability of guns to additional soldiers, who are already highly trained. But this is a great step in the right direction.

Our military personnel are the best in the world at stopping an armed threat before that person harms others. However, prior to this reversal, our soldiers were given an active shooter protocol of “close the blinds and lock the door.”  The old policy stripped the finest fighting forces in the world. It made them “sitting ducks for any foreign or domestic threat” according to one of the captains we communicated with while pushing for policy changes. I’m glad this complete ban is now behind us.

As a reminder, our website will be under scheduled maintenance on Monday and should be back up later that evening.

Thank you.
