Advancing Life and Liberty Through Action

Death by Poor Leadership

Apr 23, 2020

Some governors are making really poor choices right now.

New York issued a "do not resuscitate" order for anyone suffering from a heart attack. Because of outcry, they walked it back a little. The state now forces first responders to field-treat heart attack victims. It bans bringing these patients to the hospital for help—unless the victim regains a pulse in the field. This denies both the patient and the first responder the services of a vast team and additional equipment designed to save lives. Instead it sends these first responders out on their own with only the tools already in their vehicle.

In addition, delayed organ transplants, missed cancer and cardiac treatments and surgery, and debilitating pain from an injury are some of the many situations people did not choose but are having to endure. Because of these orders banning "elective treatment or surgery," innocent people are being harmed.

But that's not the only problem. I have a friend with a broken foot. She is in serious pain and needs surgery, but she has been turned away from the hospital because her surgery was considered "elective." She was encouraged to use a heating pad … on a broken foot. Every step is painful, and this will continue until she has the surgery. While she is remarkably strong and cheerful—for people who struggle with depression or anxiety, this could be an unnecessary and even deadly situation.

It's time to rein in our governors. They need to get out of the way and stop blocking patients from getting the critical lifesaving medical treatment so desperately needed. Send a message to demand that governors let American medical personnel, churches, and businesses get back to work.

While people are being denied life-saving medical procedures, most medical practices are far from full. In fact, most hospitals and doctors have experienced a dramatic drop in the number of patients they are seeing. Even with all the tax dollars being thrown toward the health care sector, it is still experiencing a 55% drop in revenue. This has led to 43,000 health care workers being temporarily laid off, and more than 1 in 5 medical practices have permanently laid off some of their health care workers. Of those still "employed," some are only working two days a week.

This whole situation was created by the emergency orders from governors. They are financially crippling the hospitals, while leaving people that desperately need care out in the cold, all while transforming trained medical experts into unemployment statistics.

Enough is enough. It's time to stand up and change course. Patients and caregivers desperately need each other. Our governors need to get out of the way before it's too late. Make your voice heard by sending a fax to our governors and politicians today.

We are starting to see indications that the tide could be turning. Louisiana is on the cusp of reopening medical services, but not businesses. Colorado is debating loosening the lockdown. North Carolina just announced its reopening plan today. Georgia is opening. And Florida is coming to a crossroads.

Another 4.4 million people lost their jobs last week. Businesses are going under. The stress has resulted in dramatic increases in the use of illegal drugs, prescription medications, depression, domestic violence, child abuse, viewing of adult images (including children), and suicide.

For a comparison, the 2017-18 flu season claimed 61,000 lives compared to 44,500 from COVID-19 thus far. We now know that the modules were wildly inaccurate.

If we can push a few governors to step up and open up their state, I believe we could see the same domino effect to reopen as there was to close.

I personally feel the pain of those with urgent medical needs waiting in limbo right now. Over two years ago, I had a weightlifting injury and needed surgery within two weeks to repair the damage for optimal recovery. We were at a different point in our nation and I was able to get the help I needed to fully recover. If I had the same injury today, I would have suffered permanent damage that could not be repaired. My heart goes out to so many people who need medical care. I never thought "elective" surgery included removal of cancer, repair of a heart valve, a herniated disc, or a broken bone that requires surgery to repair.

Liberty Counsel Action is standing up for those with time-sensitive needs that are not being met because of political maneuvering and leverage. America needs to wake up to what we are doing to the injured, poor and hurting among us.

We can only continue this work through the generosity of our friends that come alongside us and share in the burden felt by our hurting neighbors. Partner with us now to continue this work.

I appreciate your prayers and support during this time. And please know that my team and I pray for you.

P.S. We need to stand up for freedom. Make your voice heard now to encourage our governors and politicians to broaden their focus to include those with medical and economic needs. Now is the time to come together and to restore our constitutionally protected freedoms. Send a fax today to these governors demanding a smart and organized reopening of America.

If you benefited from this email, please forward this to your friends and family to help us beat the censorship of Big Tech. They have been blocking and shadow banning Christian organizations like ours.

Finally, this has been a challenging time for many of our usual supporters and friends. If you can support Liberty Counsel Action with a donation of any size today, we would deeply appreciate your partnership with us now.
