THIS IS IT! Today the full U.S. House will vote on the (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act. Now is a critical moment to act! The fight to stop HR 8404 is not over.

With the rejection of three good amendments that would have protected religious freedom, the disdain for religious freedom in this bill is clear.

As drafted, the bill will place a target on ALL for-profit businesses, ALMOST ALL nonprofit organizations, ALMOST EVERY person (unless you work for a nonprofit whose principal purpose is the teaching of religion). This bill WILL encourage frivolous lawsuits. Because of the controversy over the narrow, ineffective, sham “religious freedom” amendment, some in the House who formerly supported the bill are now against it.

Even if you have faxed before, now is our last chance to stop this bill. I urge you to send faxes immediately to fight HR 8404. —Mat

From the beginning, we warned about the child bride loophole in the bill. In the Senate, Sen. Ted Cruz fought for an amendment to protect these little girls and boys, but the Democrats voted him down. The glaring problem of child brides remains in this bill!

If HR 8404 becomes law, it will result in the increased prostitution of young girls and boys under the guise of a marriage license. It will target religious people and institutions. And it will open the door for federal government agencies to push a radical LGBTQ political agenda.

I warned you that the LGBTQ political agenda will never be content. As shocking as this might seem now, this bill is just the camel's nose in the tent. This bill empowers the federal government to force the LGBTQ political agenda. The federal policy established by this bill will go far beyond same-sex marriage.

We have one last opportunity to stop this bill in the House right now.

We were one of the only voices pointing out the problem of polygamy in this bill. Because of our work, an amendment to close the polygamy loophole was added in the Senate last week. Your faxes are having an impact on our nation’s policy.

Despite this change, this bill is still terrible. It will weaponize our own government against private individuals.
