For several thousand years, child sacrifice has been used to bargain with or somehow appease pagan gods to achieve success.

The Aztecs ripped the beating hearts from children to appease the gods of rain and war, who would, in turn, provide crops, freedom and success.

The Incas sacrificed children in hopes of attaining financial stability. Children were butchered alive on stone altars in hopes that the sun god would honor their sacrifice with a good crop.

The Canaanites and Jezebellian priestesses sacrificed their children to Molech and Baal, burning the children alive in hopes that those demonic gods would reward the people with freedom and prosperity.

In biblical times, the nations of Israel and Judah also sacrificed children —which, by the way, led to the destruction of those nations (2 Kings 17:14-20; 21:1-15).

Fast-forward to the 21st century ... and not much has changed.

When ’70s-era pop singer Stevie Nicks found herself pregnant during an affair with rocker Don Henley, she aborted their child. Henley wanted to marry Nicks and raise a family. But Nicks felt her touring schedule was not conducive to motherhood, so she killed the child.

"My mission maybe wasn't to be a mom and a wife,” Nicks told ABC News in 2001. “Maybe my particular mission was to write songs to make moms and wives feel better.”

In September 2021, actress Uma Thurman told Washington Post reporters she had an abortion because she “was just starting out in her career.”

Former children’s television Nickelodeon actress Keke Palmer had an abortion because, she said, “I was worried about my career responsibilities.”  

Tennis and women’s rights “icon” Billie Jean King killed her unborn child because, she said, “I was just finding out about my sexuality,” and “I was trying to get the [professional tennis] tour started.”

When famed actress Joan Collins learned she was pregnant with Warren Beatty’s child, she had an abortion because, she said, to do otherwise “would have been absolute career death.”

Whoopi Goldberg had either six or seven abortions. Sickeningly, in at least one interview, Goldberg tried to imply that God was OK with her choice to kill the unborn children because “God gives you freedom of choice.”

Each of these women chose to sacrifice a human being to achieve fame, fortune, success and prosperity — much like the mothers who sacrificed their children on stone altars thousands of years ago.

These days, our children are not sacrificed on stone altars before thousands of onlookers. Those gruesome practices now happen behind the closed doors of abortion clinics. But the overwhelming reason for many of the abortions remains the same as it was millennia ago—wealth, success and prosperity.

We need to change the culture and the laws to protect these newborn babies.
