If the so-called "Equality Act" passes, abortion up to birth — even gruesome late-term abortions that rip off limbs, or partial birth abortions — will be federally protected, and even funded with your tax dollars!

HR 15 will override every state law. No one — not doctors, nurses, even religious institutions, or insurance providers — will be able to withdraw from participating in this horrific life-ending atrocity.

Help me stop this deadly legislation.

A pro-life nurse — we’ll call her “Jamie” — had no idea her job would include a deadly choice. She had just a few seconds to choose between losing her job, possibly even her career, ... or killing a preborn child.

Jamie had already filled out the University of Vermont Medical Center’s official paperwork stating her opposition to abortion. She already had claimed an exemption so she should NEVER have to participate in those deadly procedures. Her stance was well known to her co-workers.

However, one terrible day the Center completely disregarded Jamie’s religious exemption. Her supervisors chose Jamie to assist in an abortion. It wasn’t until she entered the room that she realized what was happening. Jamie tried to appeal, to back out, to stop her involvement in the nightmare unfolding before her very eyes. There were other staff available at that moment who didn’t share Jamie’s moral standards.

Jamie spoke with the doctor in the room and pleaded that she not be forced to be involved in the elective abortion that day. But the doctor made it crystal clear that if Jamie didn’t participate, this job and perhaps even her nursing career could be over in the blink of an eye.

I wish I could tell you that in this moment of crisis, Jamie stood firm for her beliefs. But that is not what happened.

But after that horrible day, a passion was planted in Jamie’s heart to fight for the rights of other nurses forced into similar situations. She did stand up and demanded the Center stop violating rights of conscience.

And she won the freedom for all the nurses in the Center to never have to participate in another abortion against their will ... until now.

If the Equality Act passes, it won’t just erase the battle that Jamie eventually won, but it will force every single health care professional to perform or participate in the killing of helpless babes, prescribing those drugs, filling these prescriptions. If you refuse, you will be sued, and your career will be destroyed.

If you don’t speak up, who will?

How does HR 15 demand this? It mandates that “pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition” receive equal treatment — meaning the bill will make abortion a federal right. Every state law will be preempted. No parental notice or consent, informed consent — no restrictions whatsoever on abortion from fertilization to birth.

ALL hospitals, medical providers, pharmacists, employers, and insurance companies will be forced to participate in chemical and surgical abortions. And this will likely skyrocket the number of federally funded abortions.

Health insurance offered by churches, religious schools, and employers must cover abortion. No one can refuse because the Equality Act revokes the Religious Freedom Restoration Act!

Remember Hobby Lobby and Little Sisters of the Poor who objected to abortion-inducing drugs and devices? They won under this religious exemption but would not win under the Equality Act.

This bill will preempt every state law. Any abortion restriction will violate this bill if passed into law. Without question, this bill will force crisis pregnancy centers to refer women for abortion. This is what California tried to do a few years ago. Fortunately, we dragged Attorney General Xavier Becerra (now the secretary of Health and Human Services) to the Supreme Court — and we won. But if the Equality Act passes, these bloodthirsty extremists will once again force crisis pregnancy help centers to refer women to killing machines — or worse, perform the abortions themselves.

The Equality Act applies to “perceptions” and “beliefs” and is not limited to a “physical facility or place.” It applies online to websites, emails, social media, and more.

Therefore, this provision puts in jeopardy both longstanding federal conscience laws providing for protections for abortion objectors and even the Hyde Amendment prohibiting taxpayer funding for abortion.

All state and federal pro-life protections will be overridden. We can stop the Equality Act from making abortion a federal right. Tell Congress: STOP FORCING ABORTION ON US! VOTE NO on the Equality Act.
