Advancing Life and Liberty Through Action

With Just Few More Votes, This Will Pass...

Jan 19, 2024

Monday will mark 51 years since the infamous abortion case.

Since Roe v. Wade was overturned, at least 32,000 babies were saved in states with abortion bans in the first six months of 2023, and births rose by 2.3% on average in these states. Pro-life laws save lives, and data shows an increase in births in each state with an abortion ban.

January is the Sanctity of Human Life month, as well as the anniversary of January 22, 1973, the day the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the infamous Roe v. Wade opinion that led to the deaths of around 64 million unborn babies in America. Today in our nation's capital, Liberty Counsel Action staff will join other pro-life leaders on stage at the annual March for Life rally with the hope of making abortion unthinkable.

This battle has moved from federal courts to the states and voter initiatives. And there is an end run in Congress that would effectively erase every pro-life law in all 50 states and territories through the misnamed "Equality Act."

HR 15 is very close to passing. The Democrats need only six more votes. If passed, this bill will override every pro-life law and permit abortion up to birth for any reason — all funded by taxpayer dollars.

House Republicans have a thin margin, with several pro-LGBTQ Republicans among them. This bill is close to passing the House, which is our best chance to stop it. Do not sit on the sidelines while radicals twist our nation’s laws to maim and kill children and attack people of faith. Send your urgent fax to STOP HR 15 — the misnamed EQUALITY ACT! — Mat

HR 15 applies to “pregnancy, childbirth or a related medical condition.” “Pregnancy treatment,” in the eyes of the bill’s authors, includes the “right” to abort the child. Every state law will be preempted. No parental notice or consent, informed consent — no restrictions whatsoever on abortion from fertilization to birth.

ALL hospitals, medical providers, pharmacists, employers, and insurance companies will be forced to participate in chemical and surgical abortions. And abortions will be federally funded.

Health insurance offered by churches, religious schools, and employers must cover abortion. No one can refuse because the “Equality Act” revokes the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA)!

Remember Hobby Lobby and Little Sisters of the Poor who objected to abortion-inducing drugs and devices? They won under RFRA. They will not win under the Equality Act.

Before this bill, every time sex discrimination was written into law, abortion was excluded. Not so under this bill.

In addition to gutting religious freedom, the Equality Act will preempt every state law. Any abortion restriction will violate this bill if it passes.

Without question, this bill will force pregnancy resource centers to refer women for abortion. This is what California tried to do a few years ago. Fortunately, we dragged Attorney General Xavier Becerra (now nominated as Secretary of Health and Human Services) to the Supreme Court — and we won. But if the Equality Act passes, these bloodthirsty extremists will once again force pregnancy help centers to refer women to killing machines.

One of the most serious battles is at the national level. If we lose this battle and the Equality Act slips through, we will have lost every single pro-life bill ever passed. This battle is a “must win” for the next generation of Americans.

We are fighting for life on multiple fronts. Activists are targeting the following states for abortion initiatives to appear on the ballot in 2024: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, and South Dakota.

The most frustrating thing about these abortion ballot measures is that they are often intentionally vague, misleading, and deceptively worded, which is confusing and causes even moderate pro-life voters to side with abortion.

My team has a plan for fighting back at the state level as well. In February, I will appear before the Florida Supreme Court, arguing against the deceptively worded proposed abortion amendment that could be on the state’s ballot in November. This amendment would codify unrestricted abortion in Florida’s constitution up till birth for any reason.

The amendment on the ballot is unlawful because it violates Florida law by being intentionally vague and must be limited to a single subject.

A decision looms before us. Will we allow genocide of the unborn to continue, or will we restore respect for all human life?

We MUST stop the Equality Act from making abortion a federal right. Tell Congress: STOP FORCING ABORTION ON US! VOTE NO on the Equality Act.

LCA is working with legislators on Capitol Hill to stop the Equality Act and across the nation to provide strategies to block abortion amendments.

This is a battle we must win! Help us stop this dangerous bill in the House and ballot measures across our nation. Please take advantage of our Challenge Grant, which will DOUBLE the impact of your gift. Support Liberty Counsel Action today.
