Change IS Possible

Jan 27, 2024

A recent court battle involving an Indiana school that stopped a girl from using the boy’s bathroom has hit the news. This battle is raging in many schools. If HR 15 passes, the LGBTQ agenda will overwhelm every school.

Joe Biden has clearly communicated that passing the “Equality Act” is a high priority to him! This is the most serious threat to our freedom today. In its quest to mandate LGBT & Q, it will BAN LIFESAVING COUNSELING FOR ALL AGES. And these will leave vulnerable, confusing and hurting people out in the cold, all alone, trying to make sense of their feelings without any professional help.

Democrats in the U.S. House need only a few more votes to pass this terrible bill. With several Republican seats vacant, the margin is dangerously slim. We must act NOW!

Send an urgent fax to tell Congress to VOTE NO on HR 15 — the so-called EQUALITY ACT.  — Mat

Professional Christian counseling can be lifesaving. I’ll let one of my clients tell her own story:

“I am a former lesbian who went through SOCE [sexual orientation change efforts] counseling, and my life is proof that SOCE counseling can and does work for individuals struggling with unwanted same-sex attractions, behaviors, or identity.

“I was sexually abused as a child and experienced tremendous trauma from that abuse. … At the tender age of 16, I was already involved in a same-sex relationship. … My therapist was adamant that I was a lesbian, that I was born a lesbian, that I would always be a lesbian and that I should just accept and embrace it because there was nothing that I could do about it.”

When she was 24, “my girlfriend at the time told me that she had heard of this thing called SOCE counseling and that she wanted to start trying it. This was the first time in my life that I had ever heard anyone even mention that change was possible. … I have been changed and reformed from that lifestyle for 23 years now.”

But the “Equality Act” would make this type of professional counseling illegal. It would erase the hope and help that this woman found. It would make professional counselors or pastors outlaws if they dared to spread hope and freedom in Christ.

This bill would even make sharing your own personal testimony — if it includes sexual confusion — illegal!

Since California passed the first change-counseling ban against helping people overcome unwanted same-sex attractions, I have fought in the courts to keep the government out of the counseling room. Last year, my legal team won a huge case in Florida restoring freedom to those who need it most.

One of our clients testified under oath about his own struggle:

“When I was 5 years old, I was sexually molested by a 16-year-old high school boy who was also my neighbor. … I had traumatic experiences in perceiving and feeling that I was not really a male child. … I found myself sexually attracted to men because of my earlier abuse. … I carried a feeling of immense and crushing shame for my same-sex attractions.”

He said he “became clinically depressed twice, dealt with tremendous anxiety, experienced obsessive-compulsive disorder and knew in my heart that I was very confused about my sexual orientation and gender identity. In the latter years of this 20-year period, I found a course of treatment that truly helped me resolve the issues I had been experiencing.”

But the counseling that saved this man’s life will be banned by legislators through the Equality Act. Tell Congress to VOTE NO on the EQUALITY ACT.

Counseling is a lot like a GPS map system. You tell the counselor where you want to go, and the counselor helps you reach that destination. But the Equality Act bans one view of counseling — the Christian view. Years of study show that 85% of young people who experience gender confusion resolve naturally without any intervention at all. But the dictatorial Equality Act seeks to cement gender confusion, and this bill will force everyone to play along.

My heart breaks to think this lifesaving counsel could be banned — for everyone, including pastors and church counselors. Rush your urgent fax to Congress to stop the Equality Act.

Our team is busier than ever working to preserve religious freedom. We are hosting Bible Studies daily in our Ministry Center. When you support LCA, you help many other ministries have an impact in D.C. We seek to serve everyone we can with the resources God, and you, have provided.

Remember, “we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast” (see Heb. 6:18-19). Our hope is never dependent on the whims of a politician, and our laws should reflect that!
