What is Happening to Talk Radio?. . .

Oct 19, 2024

Imagine your local conservative news radio station going dark just days before the election, or worse, starting to spew carefully crafted lies designed to mislead and manipulate the public into flipping a presidential election.

This is closer than you think. Near bankruptcy, Audacy, which owns 227 radio stations in 45 markets, is being targeted for takeover by Democrat mega-donor George Soros. To rush this process ahead of the election, three Democrats appointed to the FCC voted 3-2 to set aside its rules to expedite Soros’ purchase of these stations.

Because this business deal includes more than 25% of foreign ownership of these radio stations, the FCC usually takes six months to vet any risks. However, now it is waiving that requirement that forbids foreign influence without approval. This is a significant problem, one that the FCC was established to guard against for the benefit of the American people.

But the FCC abandoned its job.

The FCC didn’t just fast-track Soros’ purchase — it completely changed the process — just for him — to be able to take control of these news talk and other stations BEFORE Election Day.

This is straight out of a dystopian novel.

Tell Congress to investigate this transfer and support legislation to oppose the hostile takeover of radio stations by George Soros!

Audacy says it is the “#1 audio news group.” Audacy owns News Talk stations in New York, Los Angelas, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and more. It is the second-largest radio conglomerate with 227 stations with many formats. It controls eight of the top 10 news brands across America and boasts of more than 164 million listeners ... every month.

But to quickly facilitate a purchase by George Soros, the FCC has violated its own rules. FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr voiced concern over this shortcut. He said, “the FCC is not following its normal process for reviewing a transaction. We have established over a number of years one way in which you can get approval from the FCC when you have an excess of 25 percent foreign ownership, which this transaction does. It seems to me that the FCC is poised to create, for the first time, an entirely new shortcut.”

FCC Commissioner Carr explained, “What we usually do is we require people to file a petition with us. We bring in national security agencies, they can review the foreign ownership.”

“Here, they’re trying to do something that’s never been done before at the commission level,” Carr said, explaining that “the full commission itself has never signed off on a shortcut like this.”

All to give George Soros control of these stations before Election Day.

Lawmakers chimed in: “Despite the unprecedented nature of this action, the FCC majority has apparently decided to approve licenses on an accelerated timeframe for a company in which George Soros has a major ownership stake, and with stations in 40 media markets reaching ‘more than 165 million Americans.’”

They continued, “By all appearances, the FCC majority isn’t just expediting, but is bypassing an established process to do a favor for George Soros and facilitate his influence over hundreds of radio stations before the November election.”

Our elections are not for sale, and American radio stations should be free of foreign influence. Demand that Congress act to stop this sale of our news sources to a foreign and hostile entity.

George Soros is offering 415 million dollars to buy Audacy’s debt. This amount would make Soros’ company “the largest stakeholder of the second-largest radio company in the U.S.”

His offer would eliminate about 1.6 billion in debt through the Chapter 11 bankruptcy. “Audacy now plans to swiftly complete its reorganization process with the FCC’s clearance in place.”

Audacy is already trying to hire new on-air personalities. We expect this will have a significant shakeup of what Americans (and voters) can learn about ahead of this election.

And Soros is not limiting himself just to News Talk radio. He is also gathering rock, country, hip-hop, and alternative stations, which will enable a broad range of brainwashing avenues.

At the FCC, this was approved strictly along party lines with three Democrats voting for this approval and two Republicans voting against it.

Make no mistake. Government agencies, private donors, and tech giants are all working together to target conservative voices to silence any viewpoint that conflicts with their radical agendas. This must be stopped. Urge Congress to fully investigate and to pass legislation to stop this today.
