Sent to Prison for Believing the Bible

Sep 2, 2025

Ten years ago, Kim went to prison because of her faith.

When Kim refused to issue a marriage license with her name on it, she was sent to prison.

In a show of power, the judge sent her to prison indefinitely until she was ready to violate her conscience and sign her name on a marriage license for two people of the same sex.

Kim was prepared to stay for the rest of her life, if that was necessary to stay true to God’s Word. She refused to dishonor her Lord who saved her lost souls only a few years before five “lawyers” on the Supreme Court defied God’s natural created order.

I’ll never forget the day I visited Kim in prison.

The case of Obergefell v. Hodges unleashed a cascade of persecution against Christians and those who believe in the objective reality that God created male and female.

And now that the Supreme Court could take up the case of Davis v. Ermold and overturn Obergefell, there is panic about passing the Equality Act (HR 15). What happened to Kim can happen to you, and to every church, school, ministry, business, and family in America. Already more than 250 members of Congress co-sponsored this legislation.

We are asking you to let Congress know your concerns about the Equality Act now with your faxes to as many members of Congress as possible to oppose this outrageous bill.

In Kim’s case, she sat in prison for six days. She would have been there much longer, but the judge finally gave in to public pressure and backed down when the case became an international media frenzy. On the Tuesday after Labor Day, 2015, Kim Davis finally was set free from prison.

Then the two vindictive men, who received their license while Kim was in prison, spent the last 10 years using lawfare to punish Kim because of her Christian faith. They just filed a notice in court for Kim to list all her assets so they can collect a 360,000-dollar judgment against Kim over their “hurt feelings.” This, while her case awaits review by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The past 10 years was not about two men getting a “marriage” license, but just like the Equality Act, this is about punishing Christians and those who refuse to bow to the LGBTQ agenda.

In cases like these, the process is the punishment. Kim has spent the last decade defending herself against the LGBTQ activists for daring to believe in the Bible and objective reality. She has suffered at the hands of those mocking what the Scriptures hold as the holy covenant of marriage.

There are others, too — photographers, cake bakers, website makers — and if the Equality Act passes, millions of people will face this same persecution for their convictions.

The “Equality Act” is the most serious threat to our freedom today. Send an urgent fax to tell the Senate to VOTE NO on the "EQUALITY ACT.”

The Equality Act will unleash persecution far beyond activist judges. It will open up every person and group in our nation to the same level of persecution that Kim now faces.

Buried in the Equality Act is one of the most dangerous legal traps Congress has ever considered. The bill doesn’t just create special protections for those who identify as LGBTQ. It even allows lawsuits if someone only claims you “perceived” them to be LGBTQ — even if they aren’t, and even if you did nothing wrong.

That means your intent — your thoughts, motives, or even assumptions — can become the subject of private lawsuits and federal government action. Imagine: you deny a promotion, remove a disruptive student from class, or decide not to rent property — and suddenly you’re accused of discrimination based on nothing but someone else’s perception.

This opens a legal can of worms unlike anything we’ve seen before. For the first time in American history, your motives — not your actions — become the battlefield. Anyone who wants to punish you or your church, school, or business will have a ready-made federal weapon to do just that, and to bankrupt you in the process while lining their own pockets.

Families, churches, and ministries will drown in lawsuits designed to silence truth and bankrupt anyone who dares to resist the radical LGBTQ agenda.

We cannot let this bill pass. Tell Congress to VOTE NO on the "EQUALITY ACT."

Our team on Capitol Hill is exposing these dangerous provisions, but we need your partnership to continue to fight this legislation. Your gift today — whether 25, 50, or 100 dollars — will help Liberty Counsel Action keep this fight alive. And your monthly gift will ensure we can stay on Capitol Hill, equipping legislators with truth and protecting people of faith from persecution.

Together, we can stop this radical bill and protect freedom for every American.
