Save the next Elias . . .
Congress gave pharmaceutical companies a pass, allowing them to injure and kill Americans with zero liability for the damage they caused. No other company in America gets such protection.
Meanwhile, Americans — like the parents of little Elias — are stuck with the financial and emotional toll caused by Big Pharma.
It’s time for Congress to quit protecting Big Pharma and make pharmaceutical companies pay for the damage they cause.
He was 4 months old — smiling, chubby, and cooing. But the day after Christmas, little Elias Tembenis’ parents took him to get a routine DTaP vaccine. Early the next morning, the seizures began. Doctors called it “rare.” The seizures increased. He started showing signs of autism. His condition worsened. Finally, at age 7, a major seizure claimed the life of Elias — and during this whole time, his family’s claim before the federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP, created to give Big Pharma liability protection in 1986) has been pending.
“We took the pediatrician’s word as gospel. ... Unfortunately, my wife and I learned the hard way,” Elias’ father said. Then, 13 years after Elias got that fateful shot, the VICP found that the vaccine caused his seizure disorder and paid the family a measly settlement.
But justice came too late for their little boy.
Under Congress’ government-imposed liability protections, vaccine manufacturers are completely shielded from lawsuits in regular courts, and their profits are protected from any damages awarded to those they injure — even if they knowingly release a deadly product!
The Tembenis parents and many others like them weren’t informed of the risks; they “learned the hard way.” Ending liability shields will force the industry to put safety first, disclose fully, and stand behind their claims in the same courts where every other product maker must answer for its conduct.
Big Pharma is the most influential and best-funded lobbying force on Capitol Hill — and in state houses too.
Let’s be candid: America needs a health reset. We must reconstruct what it means to be healthy.
The medical guilds claimed for years they were “just following the science.” But this summer when the CDC stopped recommending the COVID shots for young healthy children, the American Academy of Pediatrics broke ranks, urging these shots for babies from 6 to 23 months of age.
It was never about children like Elias. High-ranking officials are calling attention to these problems. National leaders are finally scrutinizing the vaccine status quo.
If we do not act before the midterms, momentum will evaporate, and lobbyists will lock in protections for another generation. Your faxes today can help move the only lever Congress understands — public pressure.
Here is the hard truth. Under Congress’ government-imposed liability protections, vaccine manufacturers are broadly shielded from lawsuits. Killing or maiming children has no consequence for Big Pharma. The money keeps flowing. If this shocks you, it should.
Liberty Counsel Action is asking you to lead. You are the hero in this story — the citizen who refuses to accept a system where the most powerful corporations enjoy special protections while grieving parents fight the government for more than a decade to be heard.
Send your faxes to Congress now and urge them to end special treatment for Big Pharma.
Every day we meet families with hospital wristbands in kitchen drawers, binders of records on the dining table, and quiet bedrooms down the hall. They don’t want vengeance. They want honesty, accountability, and a country where the next family doesn’t suffer what they did. That starts by ending the government-granted bubble wrap around the most powerful drug makers in the world.
Will you stand in memory of Elias — and with every parent still in the fight? We need your immediate help to counter their influence with bold truth and action on Capitol Hill. Will you give 25, 50, 100 dollars — or even more — right now to support our mission?
