In a quest to mandate LGBTQ ideology nationwide, radicals in Congress are pushing a bill that would HALT LIFESAVING COUNSELING.
This is the most serious threat to our freedom today. We need to push back with an overwhelming grassroots response.
Every Democrat supports HR 15, the so-called “Equality Act.” And this week, one more Democrat was added to the U.S. House from Arizona. They only need a few more votes to pass this bill. It is critical that we push back NOW before it’s too late!
Send urgent faxes to push back and tell Congress to VOTE NO on the EQUALITY ACT.
We have often hosted leaders of the CHANGED Movement in Washington, D.C., who share personal stories about the destructive LGBTQ lifestyle and how they were freed by the power of the Holy Spirit. But if this bill passes, it will criminalize offering hope and change.
I’ll let one of my clients share her story:
“I am a former lesbian who went through SOCE [sexual orientation change efforts] counseling, and my life is proof that SOCE counseling can and does work for individuals struggling with unwanted same-sex attractions, behaviors or identity.
“I was sexually abused as a child and experienced tremendous trauma from that abuse. … At the tender age of 16, I was already involved in a same-sex relationship. … My therapist was adamant that I was a lesbian, that I was born a lesbian, that I would always be a lesbian and that I should just accept and embrace it because there was nothing that I could do about it.”
When she was 24, “my girlfriend at the time told me that she had heard of this thing called SOCE counseling and that she wanted to start trying it. This was the first time in my life that I had ever heard anyone even mention that change was possible. … I have been changed and reformed from that lifestyle for 23 years now.”
But the “Equality Act” would seek to silence her. It would make this kind of counseling illegal. It would erase the hope and help that this woman found. It would make a professional counselor, or even a pastor, an outlaw if they dared to spread a message of the hope and freedom found in Christ. And Sen. Schumer announced he is pushing this bill hard!
That's why I’m asking you to act now by faxing Congress to oppose this outrageous bill.
Since California passed the first change-counseling ban against helping people overcome unwanted same-sex attractions, we have fought to keep the government out of the counseling room.
Another one of our clients testified under oath about his own struggle:
“When I was 5 years old, I was sexually molested by a 16-year-old high school boy who was also my neighbor. … I had traumatic experiences in perceiving and feeling that I was not really a male child. … I found myself sexually attracted to men because of my earlier abuse. … I carried a feeling of immense and crushing shame for my same-sex attractions.”
He said he “became clinically depressed twice, dealt with tremendous anxiety, experienced obsessive-compulsive disorder and knew in my heart that I was very confused about my sexual orientation and gender identity. In the latter years of this 20-year period, I found a course of treatment that truly helped me resolve the issues I had been experiencing.”
But the counseling that saved this man’s life will be banned by the Equality Act. Tell Congress to VOTE NO on the EQUALITY ACT.
Counseling is a lot like a GPS map system. You tell the counselor where you want to go, and the counselor helps you reach that destination. But the Equality Act bans one view of counseling—the Christian view. That is like a GPS that will never allow you to reach one specific destination. Years of study show that 85% of young people who experience gender confusion resolve naturally without any intervention at all. But the dictatorial Equality Act seeks to cement gender confusion, and no one can object.
My heart breaks to think this lifesaving counsel could be banned—for everyone, including pastors and church counselors. Rush your urgent fax to the Senate to stop the Equality Act.
Our team is busier than ever working to preserve religious freedom. We opened our Ministry Center for ex-LGBTQ people who want to be heard.
When you support LCA, you help many other ministries have an impact in D.C. We seek to serve everyone we can with the resources God, and you, have provided. Give a gift of 25, 50, or 100 dollars today to keep these voices a part of this national conversation.
Remember, “we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast” (see Heb. 6:18-19). Our hope is never dependent on the whims of a politician — and our laws should reflect that!
