The Schumer Shutdown (Shakedown) is crippling our military. Every attempt to fix this crisis has failed. Democrats voted for the Shutdown 14 times and also voted against a separate bill to fund the military.

Meanwhile, we are hearing directly from service members who tell us the credit cards used for official military business are not being paid. Some are already maxed out. Critical mission operations are lacking resources.

Many people — working without a paycheck for 37 days — are trying to accomplish vital tasks with no resources. Now, even that is being ground to a halt by this Schumer Shakedown. High-level federal employees (including those appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate) are not able to conduct official business.

The pressure to cave to the Schumer Shakedown on Capitol Hill is immense. Urge legislators with your faxes today to oppose the Schumer Shakedown.

Some on Capitol Hill believe that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was intentionally pushing this shutdown past yesterday’s elections — just to gain political leverage. The results in New Jersey, Virginia, and New York City were not encouraging.

But meanwhile, our service members still have to pay for groceries, rent, mortgages, and other basic living expenses while their pay has stopped and American diplomacy has been frozen — all thanks to Democrats.

Ambassadors are dead in the water. They, and their staff, have canceled countless high-level meetings. They cannot function in any official capacity.

Our nation’s voice is being silenced around the world.

We now have a short window to get our priorities through Congress before the midterm elections next year. Historically, midterms shift control away from the president’s party. Democrats know this — and they are running out the clock on our financial priorities.

This is why we cannot cave now to the Democrat shutdown. Urge legislators on both sides of the aisle to stand firm against these radical demands now.

Meanwhile, airports are choking and gasping. This week I flew out of Newark, N.J. There were more than 30 aircraft before us. Experienced pilots said they had never seen such a long bottleneck of planes waiting to depart.

When aircraft sit idle on the tarmac, they burn staggering quantities of fuel.  
TSA and air traffic controllers are not being paid. Some are staying home, thus creating a dangerous recipe for disaster.

This isn’t abstract economics. This is the Schumer Shutdown draining our infrastructure and strangling national mobility and our safety.

We are all paying a price, some more than others. But when the military, federal law enforcement officers, and air traffic controllers are not being paid, then everyone is put at risk.

Inside Congress, the situation is shifting.

Some within the House Freedom Caucus are now discussing a full year continuing resolution (CR). This is a major departure from their earlier stance supporting only short-term CRs to pressure Congress into passing a budget.

We are approaching one year into Trump’s term, and there is still no budget passed. We have spent nearly a whole year operating under the prior Democrat budget.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) is pressing ahead on the regular order—working to move all 12 appropriations bills. Right now, six bills are ready to pass.

We are only halfway to passing a budget. Sadly, we are exactly halfway to the 2026 midterms too. If we don’t pick up the pace, we will have a budget worked out in the final days of our House majority.
