BREAKING: House of Horrors Bill Heads to Senate

Jan 12, 2026

Seventeen House Republicans caved on the floor last week

Last week, 17 Republicans caved and voted with Democrats to extend the “temporary” Obamacare subsidies for three years to 2029 and to fund abortion.

We’ll name these 17 below. They are trying to sell this vote as just a technical extension of Obamacare’s COVID-era subsidies. That description is patently false. What happened was dangerous.

That vote was not about Obamacare or health care. It was about who controlled the House floor once the process is triggered — and whether Republican leadership surrenders control to Democrats on this and every other future issue ... unrelated to Obamacare.

Now this House of Horrors bill heads to the Senate. We need to FLOOD CONGRESS with our demands to stop Obamacare subsidies and abortion. Last year alone, the federal government spent 138 BILLION DOLLARS to prop up Obamacare. If we do not speak up, this will pass. Congress needs to see your faxes now. If you have faxed before, fax again now.

Even more alarming is how this maneuver advanced with Republican votes. Four Republicans in December, and then nine, and then 17 in January joined Democrats in the final House showdown to override Speaker Mike Johnson.

The first vote was to abandon Republican control of the House floor entirely — debating the rules, amendments, and final text. And they voted to transfer power to the Democrats.

The discharge vote was the point of no return. Once passed, everything that followed was a process the majority did not control. That was how desperate these Republicans were to fund abortion and Obamacare!

These votes did not merely advance a bill. They cracked open the procedural door to something much bigger — and much more destructive.

The 17 Republicans who voted for the legislation were Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Rob Bresnahan (R-PA), Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA), Mike Lawler (R-NY), Mike Carey (R-OH), Monica De La Cruz (R-TX), Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), Jeff Hurd (R-CO), Dave Joyce (R-OH), Tom Kean Jr. (R-NJ), Nick LaLota (R-NY), Max Miller (R-OH,) Zach Nunn (R-IA), Maria Salazar (R-FL), Dave Valadao (R-CA), Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), and Rob Wittman (R-VA).

Now the pressure is on the Senate side. H.R. 1834 is a shell bill with extraordinarily broad jurisdiction. It touches nearly every major committee.

Shockingly, this substitute does NOT EVEN NEED TO BE FINALIZED before the discharge vote. It only needs to be preprinted in the Congressional Record. In plain English: Republicans were asked to vote in blind trust of Democrats ... and they did it — 17 of them! They triggered this process without knowing the final legislative text that was ultimately passed on nothing more than verbal assurances from Democrats.

For decades, pro-life voters have worked toward a clear, immovable line: Taxpayers must never fund abortion. Taxpayer-funded abortion is a moral firewall. Once nationalized health care becomes the vehicle for subsidizing abortion, the policy is disqualified — regardless of how it is branded or sold.

In January, President Trump released an executive order reaffirming Hyde protections and made clear that abortion is not health care and should not be funded by taxpayers. That clarity stood as a contrast to what is happening now — immense pressure in Washington to blur lines, cut deals, and treat Hyde as negotiable.

When Hyde is treated as a bargaining chip, abortion funding becomes a freight train barreling down on our national conscience.

Hold Congress accountable NOW with your faxes.

We should relegate failed Obamacare to the dustbin of history. Instead, we are adjusting the curtains on the Titanic. All while the ship is sinking.
