The worst use of our tax dollars
Following the uprising in the U.S. House last week where 17 Republicans joined all Democrats, the U.S. Senate now has this Obamacare House of Horrors bill that includes subsidies for three years and abortion. What is happening is dangerous.
This vote is not just about health care. It is about billions in taxpayer dollars with little to no accountability, and that is shocking!
The failed Obamacare now appears to be covering people who don’t even exist, and for those who do exist, it will pay even more than the 135 BILLION DOLLARS wasted last year. On top of that, it will include taxpayer-funded abortions.
The House passed this House of Horrors bill to the Senate. Now we have to stop Obamacare subsidies and abortion funding in the upper chamber. The Senate must hear from you now.
Are we now paying for ghosts to have Obamacare?
That question sounds outrageous — until you look at the data.
Despite years of warnings, handwringing, and tears ... Obamacare enrollment has barely declined. Nationwide, enrollment remains at 97% of last year’s level — and in California, it INCREASED by 3%, according to Paragon Health Institute. This is because the system is designed to keep people enrolled no matter what.
Estimates suggest that in earlier years, 3 or 4 million Obamacare account holders paid nothing at all toward their premiums. Zero. Not one dollar. Now in 2025, that number has grown to 6.4 million “people” on fully subsidized plans. That led analysts to warn about phantom enrollees — accounts that remain active even when income, residency, or eligibility can no longer be verified.
More alarming still, in 2024, more than one-third of all exchange enrollees — and 40% of fully subsidized enrollees — had no medical claims at all. That rate is double what it was before the COVID subsidy expansions and far beyond what is seen in normal insurance markets.
Taxpayers are pouring money into plans that are not being used — while insurers are still paid in full and increasing the cost to everyone for these plans.
From 2020 to 2024, 92% of the increased cost of Obamacare plans was paid by taxpayers using COVID-era subsidies that were supposed to be “temporary.” After the pandemic, many families and businesses were told to tighten their belts when the spending ran out. However, insurance companies are now demanding that this level of spending be made permanent.
That is why you must act now. Make the Senate hear from you. Send your faxes to end this charade — all paid for by us, the taxpayers!
Sadly, this problem goes even deeper.
Obamacare provides massive taxpayer subsidies up front. Then enrollees are supposed to file tax returns to prove they qualified for those subsidies and to repay any excess beyond what they estimated they would make for the year. However, in 2025 alone, people failed to “reconcile” or prove with their tax returns that they qualified for the amount of benefits to the tune of 21 BILLION DOLLARS, according to the Government Accountability Office. That is nearly one-third of all subsidies paid. Billions went out with no verification, no accountability, and no enforcement.
This program is a mess. And now they want to spend even more.
It gets even worse. Obamacare quietly shifted insurance from an opt-in program to an opt-out system. Nearly 45% of Obamacare enrollees are now automatically re-enrolled without taking any action at all. Income is not reverified. Eligibility is not confirmed. Yet the Treasury continues sending massive monthly checks to insurers, while brokers still collect their commissions.
Auto re-enrollment turns eligibility failures into a long-term fiscal sinkhole.
Are we paying for ghosts and then automatically re-enrolling them?
This is a financial disaster. Urge the Senate to block this bill today with a flood of your urgent faxes.
And when accountability disappears, so do the guardrails that restrain abortion funding. These subsidies are growing larger and less supervised. Taxpayers are dragged deeper into funding insurance plans that include abortion coverage. This violates the moral convictions of millions of Americans.
The Senate is now under pressure to make these subsidies permanent. Years ago, enrollees paid roughly one-third of their premium. Over time, that share dropped to one-fifth. During the COVID subsidy era, it fell to just 7% of their premium cost, leaving taxpayers to shoulder the overwhelming majority of the cost.
This is not sustainable. Paying for abortion is immoral.
This must be stopped.
Liberty Counsel Action is fighting on Capitol Hill to educate our legislators about what is happening inside Obamacare and to expose this abuse and stop the Senate. Give today to help us bring this waste and fraud to light.
