Advancing Life and Liberty Through Action

Vacation ended. The betrayal did not.
Today, the Senate returns to session. Nine days ago, its inaction allowed taxpayer dollars to flood back to Planned Parenthood and other large abortion providers.
For an entire year, every member of Congress knew that this prohibition on federal Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood would expire on July 4. Congress had 365 days to act. Instead, the Republican-led Senate rejected an amendment to extend the funding ban.
While America celebrated 250 years of independence, Planned Parenthood celebrated its long-awaited taxpayer-funded payday. That money is already being directed to these dark abortion mills.
But the Senate is back today, and they can do something about this. Yet, last we checked, it was not even on the schedule.
Congress must hear from you now.
Send your urgent faxes and demand that the House and Senate restore the prohibition, permanently defund Planned Parenthood and stop forcing Americans to subsidize Big Abortion.
For two weeks, most senators were away from Washington.
Meanwhile, the July 4 deadline came and went. The protections expired, Planned Parenthood regained access to a federal funding stream, and these merchants of death went back to business.
Today, the Senate reconvened for regular business. But its first scheduled vote was to defund Planned Parenthood or restore the Medicaid prohibition.
Instead, Washington simply moved on.
We cannot. Now that senators are back, it is time to make your voice heard.
Send your faxes right now. Tell Congress that restoring taxpayer funding to abortion providers is unacceptable.
Planned Parenthood and its allies never stop. They never take their eyes off the goal, and they never say, “Let’s wait until after the next election.”
But too many politicians who campaigned as pro-life treat the protection of unborn children as something that can always be postponed. They say, “Now isn’t the time.” They say, “We don’t have the votes.” They say, “Let’s revisit it after the midterm elections.”
They are wrong.
Waiting costs lives. Waiting is how Planned Parenthood keeps winning.
Last year, we fought for a 10-year prohibition on funding for Planned Parenthood and other large abortion providers. The House passed stronger language, but after Washington’s legislative machinery finished grinding away at it, Congress enacted only a one-year prohibition on certain Medicaid payments.
That compromise has now expired.
Liberty Counsel Action is meeting with legislators and their staff, delivering policy recommendations, educating Americans and mobilizing citizens to flood Congress with messages.
The July 4 deadline may have passed, but this fight is not over. Congress still possesses the authority to act. What is missing is the political courage and determination to use it.
Planned Parenthood has professional lobbyists, political allies, and an enormous fundraising operation working to protect its access to taxpayer money.
We depend on friends like you.
Your special gift will help us press Congress to restore the prohibition, permanently defund Planned Parenthood and hold lawmakers accountable.
Let’s make sure lawmakers hear from YOU — not merely Planned Parenthood’s lobbyists.
For life and liberty,
Mat Staver, Chairman
John Stemberger, President
