Some states are cleaning their voter rolls.  
Others are fighting to keep the water muddy.

Four states are not following the standard election vetting that would be required under the SAVE America Act. And this is what President Trump’s team says it found:

More than 250,000 noncitizens illegally registered to vote.

Not across the entire country.

Not after reviewing all 50 states.

That staggering number came from just the first four states (California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada) of public voter files that a judge had to order to be reviewed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

If the pages of these registrations were laid end to end, it would cover the distance of nearly two marathons!

Now the question is no longer whether the registrations exist.

The question is: Will these four states do anything about them?

Will election officials investigate the records, remove ineligible registrations, and protect the votes of lawful citizens as required under the SAVE America Act (which Congress has yet to pass)? Or will they delay, deny, litigate, and allow the waters surrounding America’s elections to grow even murkier?

We want to show you a contrast that could not be clearer.

Across the country, 10 responsible states have voluntarily used the enhanced Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements system — known as SAVE — to compare voter-registration records against federal citizenship and immigration information.

They did not wait to be dragged into court.

They did not need to hide their voter files behind years of resistance.

They understood that election officials are not merely managing databases. They are guarding the gateway through which the American people choose their leaders and determine the future of this republic.

As of June 22, 2026, DHS reported that 25 states had processed more than 68 million voter-registration records through the enhanced SAVE system. Ten states reportedly processed their entire voter lists.

According to DHS, those examinations enabled states to identify:

• More than 400,000 deceased registrants.

• More than 28,000 noncitizens registered to vote.

• Thousands of records requiring further review or correction.

These states opened the books, turned on the lights, and began clearing the names of deceased and ineligible registrants from their voter rolls.

But in California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada, federal investigators reportedly encountered a very different response. Instead of promptly cooperating with efforts to verify eligibility, these states fought the review — and only after that prolonged struggle did investigators report finding more than 250,000 noncitizen registrations.

That is the difference between officials who view election integrity as a sacred responsibility and officials who appear more interested in resisting accountability.

One side is working to ensure that every lawful vote counts.

The other is fighting even the scrutiny into whether unlawful registrations are diluting the voices of U.S. citizens.

Federal law supposedly blocks noncitizens from voting in federal elections. However, this prohibition requires verification to make enforcement possible. Otherwise, it’s like posting a “Do Not Enter” sign beside an unlocked door.

The SAVE America Act will lock that door.

To work to address this, the House is toying with a new strategy.

Republicans plan to use the budget to get around Senate obstruction. In a proposed reconciliation package, Congress grants 10 billion dollars as a reward to states that strengthen their election systems and follow the principles of the SAVE America Act. States that step forward could receive federal grants to enforce voter-identification requirements and add proof-of-citizenship protections to REAL IDs.

This is not the full SAVE America Act. It would not immediately impose one nationwide citizenship-verification mandate on unwilling states. Instead, it would invite states to opt in — providing the money needed to adopt key parts of the legislation while making the provisions more likely to survive the Senate’s strict reconciliation rules.

The House Administration Committee must now build the guardrails for the plan by Sept. 11. Then the pressure shifts to the Senate, where Republicans could use reconciliation to bypass a Democratic filibuster and pass the final package with Republican votes alone.

This is built on a simple principle: American elections should be decided by American citizens. But the plan is still only a blueprint. It must survive the reconciliation process first.
