It’s time to defund the United Nations. It lost 58,800,000 dollars.

This nearly 59 million was lost in a spectacular investment disaster caused by defaulted loans made through the United Nations Office for Project Services. What investigators uncovered was stunning.

Independent reviewers found “leadership failures at the highest level.”

They found leaders pushing investments through while disregarding red flags.

And they found that the U.N. investment operation was working outside its normal financial rules and circumventing existing controls.

The U.N. program had made eight investments totaling 63 million dollars. By the end of 2022, 58.8 million dollars in defaulted loans had been fully impaired. That means almost the entire amount defaulted.

The U.N.’s enormous construction projects run over budget and lag YEARS behind schedule. American taxpayers underwrite this corruption and waste.

We now have a chance to DEFUND THE U.N. in the Appropriations bill.

Demand Congress defund the U.N. NOW!

The U.S. Government Accountability Office just examined major U.N. construction and renovation projects. One of the most glaring examples is the renovation of the U.N.'s massive headquarters complex in Geneva.

Over the past decade, the U.N. has undertaken office construction and renovation projects valued at more than 4 BILLION dollars.

Its original budget was approximately 871 million dollars.

That budget has now climbed to approximately 963 million dollars.

And instead of being finished in 2023 as originally planned, substantial completion is now expected in 2027.

Four years late, and roughly 92 million dollars above its original budget.

The GAO found that COVID restrictions, inflation, supply-chain issues, and contractor-coordination problems all contributed to the overruns and delays.

But the GAO found another problem too:

The State Department — which is supposed to represent the interests of the American taxpayers — did not even have specific guidance outlining how it should oversee large-scale U.N. construction projects.

Here is why Americans should pay attention to every one of these numbers.

About 30.5% of the contributions are from the United States.

WE PAY MORE THAN ANY NATION. There is precious little transparency! When the United States temporarily delayed funding and demanded transparency before reinstating the funding ... the U.N. refused.

In 2023, the United States provided approximately 13 BILLION dollars in assessed and voluntary contributions.

Germany was next largest contributor at about 5.5 billion.
