Here's Why Senators MUST Confirm Overton

Oct 2, 2026

From a dream to death’s door

Haile McAnally always wanted to be a mother. But she was 19 when her pregnancy test turned positive. She immediately called her boyfriend. He asked what she was going to do about the pregnancy, then hung up. They never spoke again.

Her future collapsed. Raising a child alone felt impossible. So McAnally walked into an abortion facility. It was cold. Dark. She paid the money. She signed forms, swallowed an abortion pill, and went home. Bleeding was expected. She waited.

What happened next shows why the Senate MUST confirm pro-life leader Dr. Heidi Overton to lead the FDA. Women need protection from the abortion pill. Overton will act to protect them.

Rush your urgent faxes to support Dr. Overton’s confirmation.

After two hours, McAnally's strength was gone, her mind blurry. She moved to the bathtub. She laid there bleeding out, believing she might be dying.

Worse yet, she thought she deserved to die for killing her baby. Everything went black.

This is what abortion pills do. The current system sends women home to have the worst experience of their life, witnessing the death of their child ... alone. And sometimes, like McAnally, to face the prospect of their own death too.

Now there is a solution.

President Trump nominated Dr. Heidi Overton to lead the Food and Drug Administration. She has expressed serious concerns about these abortion pills and the deadly way they are pushed on young women that put them at risk. For that, Dr. Overton is facing serious attacks.

Rush your urgent faxes to support Dr. Overton’s confirmation.

During her confirmation hearing last week, Republicans and Democrats alike publicly grilled Dr. Overton on her abortion stance, vaccines, free speech, and the FDA’s regulatory authority.

But now her nomination sits in limbo because the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) has held her hearing, but has not yet scheduled a vote on her confirmation. (There are even whispers the Senate might push her confirmation vote to after the election.)

Yet the abortion pill brings suffering into the lives of women like McAnally every day. In her case, a friend came by and found her unconscious in the bathtub covered in her own blood. The next thing McAnally remembers is waking up in a hospital where she received a blood transfusion.

She barely survived the abortion pill. Her child did not.

But if the Senate confirms Dr. Overton, women like McAnally will have an ally at the highest levels of the FDA! This is a key moment. We cannot let the Senate delay a confirmation that needs to happen now.

The Food and Drug Administration is a critical part of addressing this chemical abortion problem. Urge the Senate to support Dr. Overton now.

Dr. Overton understands the risks that women like McAnally face. In a paper Overton co-wrote, she noted: “chemical abortions pose serious risks to women, with 1 in 5 experiencing adverse effects.”

That is why this confirmation cannot wait. Every delayed vote is another day women are sent home and left to face the consequences of the abortion pill alone, in silence.

Liberty Counsel Action is fighting to put a doctor who understands these risks in charge of the FDA. But we cannot do it without you.

Please stand with us right now. Make the most generous single gift you can, or become a monthly partner so we can keep the pressure on the Senate and continue exposing the truth about chemical abortion.

Your support is what keeps this work alive. Because of you, we are researching the policies, amplifying stories like Haile McAnally’s, and demanding that the agency charged with protecting Americans finally puts women’s safety first and ends the rampant disregard for human life now.
