Overton could change the FDA's direction ...
Dr. Heidi Overton is a strong advocate for pro-life policies, medical freedom, biological gender reality, and Make America Healthy Again (MAHA).
However, her confirmation vote to lead the FDA has been delayed for more than two weeks!
The stakes could hardly be higher because the FDA sets the rules governing the abortion pill, known as mifepristone and used in an estimated 63% of all abortions in America.
Overton previously made her opposition to chemical abortion well known. And now her nomination is facing resistance.
Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Chairman Sen. Bill Cassidy fiercely questioned Overton’s nomination and you deserve to know why.
Cassidy is listed among Congress’s largest recipients of campaign donations from pharmaceutical and health products firms. And nearly every other senator has received some level of donations from these same companies.
But the only thing more powerful than money on Capitol Hill is voters. And we need your voice to be heard now.
Flood the Senate with your faxes urging support for Dr. Overton.
Sen. Cassidy opened Overton's nomination hearing by expressing his “concerns” about her views on pharmaceutical drugs and vaccine schedules. Exactly what Cassidy’s biggest donors are concerned about.
The other contentious topic is Dr. Overton's critical stance toward chemical abortion, about which she wrote three years ago in a paper titled, “Risking Two Lives—The Dangerous Rise of Chemical Abortion.”
At the time, the Biden administration’s FDA was dismantling safeguards surrounding mifepristone. It eliminated the requirement that women obtain the drug in person. Then came telehealth. Mail-order abortion pills. Pharmacies dispensing mifepristone.
The doctor's office was completely disappearing from this process.
Overton objected.
Her report warned about the rise of tele-abortion and argued that women should receive an in-person medical evaluation before receiving chemical-abortion drugs.
And she did not mince words about why this mattered. Overton and her co-author wrote: “Abortion is corrosive to children, women, and society broadly because it devalues and extinguishes innocent human life.”
Now, she faces an uphill confirmation battle in the Senate HELP Committee, which has postponed its vote until after the election. Urge the Senate to confirm her now. Send as many faxes as possible today.
And here's why the timing could not be better for Overton to lead the FDA: The agency is running a new safety study of mifepristone. Once it is complete, the FDA will determine whether “substantive changes" to the drug's special safety rules are needed.
This is exactly what Liberty Counsel Action has been working toward for months. We are excited to see this progress and even more excited at the possibility that Dr. Overton will, if confirmed, sit in a position of authority over something that she has cared about for years.
Three years ago, Heidi Overton was outside the FDA warning that the federal government had gone too far in loosening abortion-pill safeguards.
Today, she is one step closer to sitting in the chair that oversees that very same agency.
And while Washington debates who should lead the FDA, Liberty Counsel Action will continue closely examining the federal policies surrounding chemical abortion and their consequences for women and unborn children.
Please help us continue that work with a monthly gift or the most generous single gift you can provide today.
