Business Insider pushed a fake narrative claiming zero states have "started to use" contact tracing technology by Apple and Google for COVID-19. However, we instantly knew from our research that this is false.

To hold these fake news outlets accountable, Liberty Counsel Action pushed past these talking points and got the truth directly from the developer of North Dakota's COVID-19 app "Care19."

There are 10 states that are either currently using contact tracing apps relying on the tech from these companies or under contract to start very shortly.

MSN.com picked up the Business Insider (BI) article with the title "Apple and Google's ambitious COVID-19 contact-tracing tech can help contain the pandemic if used widely. But so far only 3 states have agreed—and none has started to use it."

The developer of Care19 blew the doors off this story. "This article has numerous inaccuracies," Tim Brookins confirmed. North Dakota is using the technology of Apple and Google to do contact tracing by phone, and state contact tracers are absolutely using that data. On a side note, North Dakota has more than double the nationally recommended number of trackers per 100,000 people.

The Care19 COVID-19 tracking app was publicly launched a month before Apple and Google laid out their plan to use Bluetooth technology. So, this app pre-dates these plans. It uses GPS tracking provided by the phone companies, which is more accurate and also significantly more invasive of privacy. It translates recorded latitude and longitude coordinates into business names with help from Foursquare.

The Care19 app records the phone user's location and keeps a record going back 14 days. If they test positive, the user gives this information to the state contact tracer to help track down others that may have been exposed.

If that's not a state using iPhone and Android technology for contact tracing, I don't know what is.

In addition, the state of Rhode Island just launched an app several weeks ago called "Crush Covid RI," which is more invasive than what Google and Apple where pushing. It keeps a 20-day "location diary" off of GPS that records where you traveled.

We know of more states that are actively pushing people to download their contact tracing apps, including, but not limited to, South Carolina, Utah, and the conservative strongholds of Alabama and South Dakota. There are also four more states that are in contract right now with developers for state-wide apps, including Oklahoma, Virginia, Washington and Illinois. Chicago also has a contact tracing app.

That means there are 10 states that are paying to use Apple and Google technology right now or in the very near future. These states represent a population of almost 50 million people who are under the leadership of politicians intent on using tax dollars to invade our privacy through technology provided by Apple and Google.

We have a choice. We can sit on the sidelines and accept these attacks on our liberty and privacy. Or we can send a fax right now to these governors and national leaders that American patriots will not bow to a trampling of our constitutional rights.

The much more dangerous threat is not a downloadable app, but the tracking that can be done without your permission. Did you notice how New York and California are strangely missing from the list of states pushing contact tracing apps? That's because there already is technology that is more advanced and invasive, and you don't even realize it's happening.

State and local governments are surveilling and tracking private American citizens through smart phone ads. This is happening to hundreds of millions of cell phone users, according to The Wall Street Journal. A joint portal is being created to use this to track everyone's movements in hundreds of cities nationwide.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has launched its own program and is already tracking everyone in New York through cell phones, according to The Wall Street Journal. They were caught taking this information and feeding it directly to the local police force for dispatching police officers. And they are gearing up to simultaneously monitor every citizen with a smart phone in up to 500 cities across America.

This is a stunning, unconstitutional breach of privacy. And even more shocking is that it appears to have been launched silently without public notice, input, or discussion. In addition, it appears the plans are to operate these "government commissioned programs" independently of legislative oversight, debate, or approval.

Actions that would have been unthinkable before COVID are now happening routinely. Wolfie Christl called this "covidwashing" of these privacy-invading efforts. "In the light of [COVID], it may be appropriate to make use of aggregate analytics based on consumer data in some cases, even if data is being gathered secretly or illegally by companies," according to the Daily Mail.

Right now, our nation stands on the precipice. In the peak of hypocrisy, the news media condemns President Trump for thinking of holding a rally, while staying completely silent about many Democratic governors joining tens of thousands of protesters. Our citizens are suffering under radical leadership and being lied to by the media.

We must demand our legislators and governors show respect for our God-given freedoms. We cannot ignore or accept the spying going on all around us until it becomes our "new normal."
